Justin
Murphy Story
From a young age, Justin was
fed a high fibre diet of Cat Stevens, Neil Diamond, John
Lennon and The Bee Gee's. At 13, knowing that listening
wasn¹t enough, he purchased his first guitar, She was a
Valencia standard classical guitar he fondly remembers. And
man did I love to play her, I still have that very same
guitar hanging in my studio today.
Justin's journey through the garage and pub scenes
culminated with the formation of the band Heavenscent. His
drive as the singer/songwriter saw the immergence of a
unique sound. A sound that not only secured commercial
success for the band but also saw him working on the
Unauthorised Nickelback DVD “The Road to Success”. His hit
single Short Goodbyes from that period will best be
remembered for the donation of its proceeds to the victims
of the Bali bombing.
The success of Heavenscent saw him share the stage with
legends like Billy Thorpe, Jimmy Barnes and Status Quo, and
it was perhaps that privilege that triggered his own vision
of a solo career.
Justin's new solo material has created huge interest when
performed at his powerful live shows. The strong melodies
and his love of rock has had audiences and critics
enthralled. Australian Guitar Magazine labelled him The
young gun of Australian Rock in their April/May 2006
edition, with equipment manufacturers also quick to jump on
board the express train.
The reaction to the new material has since culminated in a
world-wide recording deal from Emporium Music. Justin has
been working hard to create an album that captures this very
new rock sound. Pre-production was started in his newly
completed Blue Eye Studios, and the collaboration with long
time friend and ARIA award winning producer Lindsay Gravina
has seen a very intense musical experiment come to life.
The results of this collaboration where revealed to the world in the form of his latest single, an intoxicating, anthemic remake of the REM classic “Losing My Religion” transforming their hit from nineties to the now.
After a successful launch of
his new single “Losing My Religion” to a packed house at
LIVE, Crown Casino Melbourne, Justin was booked in
immediately to revisit the studio once again with Gravina to
put the final touches to his follow up single due for
release in August followed by his debut Album “Melodic
Innuendoes” hot on its heels
”I
have always had a passion for music, whether I was writing,
performing, or just plain listening, it's always been my one
addiction. I'm just lucky that I am in a position to be
able to share this addiction with the rest of the world”.
